Designed to improve the Navy’s capacity to deliver timely and effective Seaman Officer training, a Bridge Simulator Upgrade Program was initiated by Navy Minor Projects. Its focus was to ensure the training met the Navy’s rigorous requirements to man and operate the fleet.
Included in this program was the Bridge Simulator Building. It involved modifying and extending the existing bridge simulator building at HMAS WATSON, at South Head, Sydney NSW for the purpose of providing a state of the art facility. It needed to cope with increased student numbers relying on the infrastructure to promote training and support. The aim was to accommodate additional simulator equipment and associated peripherals, accommodate instructors and provide additional ablution facilities for increased student cohorts in training at the facility.
